Week 5: WIPs and Collabs!

I'm so excited to explore more with colors and materials. I found myself really liking the softness of pastels, combined with a layer of color pencil on top to add texture!

the artist call

I went to my first artist call this week. It was really fun to be able to pitch my idea + hear about all the talent from the other schools! I contacted multiple composers so I could get a better sense of who's out there, and will be meeting with them throughout the next couple of days to get to know them. Hopefully I can move forward with someone who is really committed to the project + emotional ideas I'm going for. More updates on that next week!

feeling for the music

I want for the music to exist almost as its own being, not super tied to the visuals, but VERY tied to the mood. I think as for sounds I'm drawn to, I like the idea of using human voices, synths, things that sound almost -otherworldly-

Here's the PROGRESSION - we're building layers, building EMOTIONS

This is the song I'm using as a scratch track in my animatic! It has a beautiful build up to these ethereal sounding voices, something I'm interested in experimenting more with.

This is the song I sent to my potential composers. Another one of Bon Iver's that's my favorite.

I find myself working a lot to music, it almost influences the visuals I put out. So having this playlist has been very helpful for me. Hopefully I can work with my composer in an almost handshake workflow - where the stuff they create influences decisions in my visuals.
